ANDY BALBIRNIE warmed up for next week’s one-day international series against the West Indies with a century for North-West Warriors in Cork yesterday before the Munster Reds scrambled to a three-wicket win in the InterPro Cup.
The Ireland red-ball captain struck 10 boundaries in his 101 from 135 balls but the Warriors total of 245-6 was chased down with two overs to spare as former Ireland Under-19 skipper Phillipe Le Roux finished on 74 not out.
Meanwhile, George Dockrell reminded the Ireland selectors that he is still a force in 50-overs cricket with an unbeaten 101 that helped Leinster Lightning recover from 12-4 to beat Northern Knights by four wickets at Oak Hill in Co Wicklow.
Dockrell, used almost exclusively in T20s by Ireland these days, hit a six and 14 fours as he added 82 with Gavin Hoey and an unbroken 76 with Barry McCarthy who was 34 not out when Lightning passed the visitors’ 204 all out.
