One of the more remarkable incidents in the history of cricket happened today in Bangkok as the UAE retired out their entire side in their match against Qatar.

The sides are in Bangkok for the nine team Asian regional qualifier for the next women's T20 World Cup. The tournament is being played during the Thai rainy season - with some suggesting this is so the ICC can save money on hotel costs - with two matches abandoned and two more reduced in the first five matches.

With more rain forecast at the Terdthai cricket ground, UAE realised that getting a full game in was looking unlikely. With openers Esha Oza and Theertha Satish unbeaten on 113 and 74 respectively for a team total of 192 and declaration not available in limited overs cricket, a plan was hatched.

Oza and Satish both retired, following which a succession of pairings strolled out to the middle and walked off to indicate their retirements until ten had retired. The UAE total of 192 is the highest all out total in women's T20Is.

In reply, Qatar were bundled out for 29 with Rizpha Bano Emmanuel contributing 20 of their runs. Michelle Botha was the leading wicket-taker for UAE with 3-11.
