FOX LODGE WOMEN CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
It’s been an excellent start to the year for Fox Lodge Women, who completed the treble last season. They have recorded convincing wins in both the league and cup, and picked up their first silverware of the new campaign with a 33-run win over perennial rivals Bready.
Both sides were missing influential players, but Fox Lodge captain Hannah McLaughlin was delighted by the attitude and depth of her squad as she lifted yet another trophy.
“We were delighted with our performance against Bready on Sunday to secure the Derry Midweek Charity T20 Cup for another year,” said McLaughlin.
“We were missing our opening batters Sarah Black and Lucy Neely due to Super Series duties with the Dragons, as well as new recruit Ella Wasson so we knew it was going to be a challenge to fill these positions.
“Elle Moore stood up to the mark with a good display with the bat and ball. Mollie Devine also brought her experience to the crease to set Bready a challenging target. Chloe Young, one of our U13s did really well to get three wickets, as did Lucy Blair.
“The season has started really promising and we’re all excited to see what we can achieve as a team going forward.”
There could be a few more big nights in the offing down Ballymagorry way!
