Bryan O'Donnell will succeed Donna Armstrong as Cricket Ireland President, taking office in 2026.

Bryan has been a member of Cork County Cricket Club since the 1960s. His playing career spanned almost 30 years and he was Club captain in 1974, the club.centenary year, and again in 1988. In Munster domestic cricket, he also played for Cork Harlequins and was a founding member of that club in 1969.

Bryan played 50 times for Munster in the Interprovincial tournament (Guinness Cup) between 1970 and 1988. He took 65 wickets at an average of 25.97 with a best return of 7 for 81 (against Ulster Town). He also scored 474 runs at an average of 13.54 with a best score of 53.

Off the field, in addition to his involvement with Cork County, Bryan acted as Treasurer of Munster Cricket from 2012 to 2021 and was a  key member of the group that oversaw the transition of the Union to incorporated status and the move to professional management which has driven the growth of the Union in recent years.

Finally, Bryan's father,  Cyril , was Irish Cricket Union President in 1963 so we will have the rare occurrence of a father and son being honoured with the most prestigious office in Irish cricket.
