It was a case of so near yet so far last season as Eglinton just missed out on a first league title since 1972, pipped at the post on NRR by Donemana.

They have a new overseas player in Lakshan Gamage, who is a 24 year-old Sri Lankan all-rounder who previously played internationally for Sri Lanka U-19s.

They welcome back prodigal sons Lee Ritchie and Richard Wylie from Coleraine and The Nedd respectively that will add some depth to the squad.

Eglinton have a crop of talented youngsters, with Ryan Lamrock and Callum Smith looking to keep up their strong performances in the 2nd XI to break into the 1st XI consistently.

Jamie Millar is entrusted with the captaincy and he's looking forward to the start of the new season.

"There’s a great buzz around the club as we look to build on a strong season last year by bringing silverware back to the village," said Millar.

"We’re excited to have Liam Doherty returning who had an unbelievable year with bat and ball and will no doubt continue to improve.

"We hope our new overseas man Lakshan Gamage can hit the ground running and offer runs in the middle order as well as crucial wickets with the new ball.

"Adam Lamberton and Robbie Millar will be looking to kick on from promising displays last season. Also we are delighted to have local lads Lee Ritchie and Fish back at the club."
