Australia have beaten Oman quite convincingly at the Kensington Oval in Barbados to get their T20 World Cup campaign off to a straightforward start.

Mehran Khan had a memorable moment in the ninth over of the Australian innings when, with the score on 50, he had Mitchell Marsh caught in the deep before dismissing Glenn Maxwell first ball after an excellent diving catch - probably the catch of the tournament so far - by his captain Aqib Ilyas.

That was as good as it got for Oman though as David Warner and Marcus Stoinis added 102 for the fourth wicket before Warner was out for 56. Stoinis finished unbeaten on 67 from only 36 balls as Australia made 164-5 from their 20 overs.

Oman batted out their overs in reply, though they were never really in the hunt to chase down their target. Ayaan Khan's 36 from 30 balls was their top score, whilst Mehran Khan had an entertaining cameo, scoring 27 from 16 balls. Marcus Stoinis completed a fine all-round performance, taking 3-19 as Oman were kept to 125-9, losing by 39 runs.

Oman are next in action on Sunday when they take on Scotland, but Australia's next game will be on Saturday when they come up against arch-rivals England.
