BRAVE BURNDENNETT BOW OUT

Burndennett bowed out of the National Cup with a five-wicket loss to three-times champions Rush, but not before they gave the Fingal side a real test with a battling display. It was an effort that made home skipper Conan Pollock justifiably proud.

“Batting first, Rush's bowling attack restricted us to 170, but Niall McDonnell batted brilliantly throughout the innings,” said Pollock. “He got good support from Mark Pollock, Andy Barr, plus Marty and Cody Mehaffey.

“At the halfway stage, we were confident we had enough runs on the board. Some tight fielding got us off to a good start, but Rush's quality shone through. A special mention has to go to Derek 'Fraggle' Curry who picked up all five wickets, which is a great effort.

Up next for us, is an away trip to the Bee Gees. Bonds Glen is always a difficult place to go, but we will be up for the challenge,” added Pollock.
