Finn McGee's brilliant 133 led St Joseph's Rush to a maiden Schools Cup success as they beat St Columba's College by 98 runs at a sun drenched Merrion.

McGee laid the platform with a half century opening stand with skipper and Ireland U17 international Hasan Shahid (26).

The match winning stand though was between the talented opener and Callum Armstrong (68). The pair added 156 for the second wicket with McGee hitting 15 fours and two maximums in his knock as his side made an imposing 278 for 4 in their 40 overs.

Half centuries from brothers Seb (58) and Jan (50) Dijkstra kept their side interested but it was another set of brothers - Shane and Conor Butterly - who took a combined five wickets to swing the match firmly in St Joseph's favour.

There were wickets too for Ben Morris (2-28) and Callum Armstrong (1-32) as they sealed a 98-run win and lifted the famous trophy.
