FOX LODGE DO THE DOUBLE

It was a delayed start to the campaign for Fox Lodge whose Championship game against Strabane fell by the wayside but they did get onto the field on Sunday with victories over The Nedd and Killyclooney in two closely fought encounters.

For skipper Aaron Heywood was delighted to not only get the points, but also get some of the winter cobwebs blown away before the promotion battles start.

“Two wins at the weekend was the most important thing,” said Heywood. “We were definitely a bit rusty among all aspects throughout the two games but we fought hard and pulled out two good victories.

“Jason Milligan and Luke Hayes put on two good partnerships when things were going tough. Jason in particular looked excellent and I'm glad to see him enjoying his cricket early in the season.

“We had to lean on our experience for these two games, especially the last-ball win against Killyclooney. All in all, although we have some things to work on this week, we do have momentum to take into this weekend’s league fixture away at Ballyspallen.”
