Ireland Women's T20I clash with Thailand has been abandoned without a ball bowled, but they did manage to beat the UAE in a non-capped game on Sunday evening.
Batting first, they lost Amy Hunter to the first ball of the game, but recovered thanks to a second wicket stand of 96 in 9 overs between Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast.
Lewis top-scored with 50 not out from 24 balls - hitting ten boundaries, while Prendergast's unbeaten 43 in 29 balls included five fours and the only maximum of the game, played at the Sevens ground on the outskirts of Dubai.
Both players retired, and after that it was a bit of a struggle with 58 additional runs scored in the last 11 overs.
Skipper Laura Delany made a run-a-ball 19, while rebecca Stokell (11) also reached double figures in a final total of 154 for 6.
Alana Dalzell (2-5) took two wickets in two balls, before the hosts recovered in a third wicket stand of 57 in 9 overs between top-scorer Satish (31) and Sharma (25).
The result was never in doubt despite this, with Ed Joyce's side running out winners by 36 runs.
The Irish will try and play Thailand in the second scheduled T20I on Thursday.
