Unfortunately the Northern Counties Schools Festival in Yorkshire in July coincided with the Ireland Under 19 game against ESCA and this denied the Ulster Schools the services of their five top players. The Ulster team struggled throughout the tournament, losing all four games that they completed. The outstanding individual performances came from RBAI batsman Alastair Agnew, who scored an unbeaten century out of a total of 162 against Derbyshire, and Gordon Cooke, who took four Yorkshire wickets before the rains came.
