The first CWC League 2 match - and first ODI - of 2020 took place today in Al Amerat, Oman with the hosts recording a five wicket win over neighbours UAE.

Oman won the toss and put the visitors into bat, quickly finding themselves on top as the UAE top four all fell for single digit scores. From 27-4, the UAE staged a recovery of sorts with a 63 run fifth wicket partnership between Muhammed Usman and Rohan Mustafa which ended when the latter was run out for 24.

Usman was the seventh man out having scored 68, helping his team to post a total of 170. Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood was the pick of the bowlers with 4-15.

Oman's reply was built around a second wicket partnership of 112 between Jatinder Singh and Aqib Ilyas, which ended when Singh was caught by Ahmed Raza off his own bowling for 62. Ilyas batted on and finished unbeaten on 80 as the home team completed a five wicket win with 12.3 overs to spare.

The UAE will next be in action tomorrow when they take on Namibia, whilst Oman will play Namibia on Wednesday.
