This current Waringstown side surely has to be one of the best club sides in Irish cricket. After winning the All Ireland T20 Cup last Saturday the side from The Lawn now currently hold all SIX available cups that they compete in. Under the captaincy of Greg Thompson this side has won all before them with winning the Premier League, Irish Cup, T20 Cup and Ulster Cup last season. Already in the 2018 campaign they have won the Challenge Senior Cup, Lagan Valley Steels T20 Cup and All Ireland T20 Cup. Thompsonís side are in the Irish Cup showpiece final again this season for the fourth year in a row on Saturday 1st September at Stormont with Merrion their opponents for the third time in the past four seasons. They currently sit in second place in the league behind CIYMS with four games to play with the leaders looking favourites for the title. But this side has class written all over it with the run machines of Adam Dennison and James Hall at the top of the order who have got their side off to great starts this season and both have over 1100 runs to date. The batting depth is massive with James McCollum, Lee Nelson, Shaheen Khan, Greg Thompson, Kyle McCallan and Marcus McLean all capable of building big innings. On the bowling front seamers Shaheen Khan, Phil Eaglestone and James Mitchell have picked up important wickets. Spin trio of Gary Kidd (37), Kyle McCallan (26) and Lee Nelson (30) have 93 wickets between them this season so far. With a small squad Waringstown have done rather well this campaign especially with a number of injuries this season. Heading into the last couple of weeks there is still plenty to play for and to be in possession of all six trophies is just that little bit special. By Paddy Allen
