Thirds lose off last ball
Waringstown’s third string agonisingly lost a last ball thriller against Instonians seconds at Shaws Bridge on Saturday.
Batting first the thirds scored 191 all out but failure to bat their 40 overs would cost them in the end. They were all out inside 36 overs with Rory Carson top scoring with 56. Paddy Currie with 34 and Ian Morrison with 29 were the other main contributors along with 45 extras.
In reply Instonians got off to a solid start before Shane Burke (4-32) bowled a great spell and Paddy Allen conceded just 24 runs from his eight over spell.
Mark Carpenter (2-35) and Ben McKnight (1-33) picked up wickets and going down to the last over Instonians required nine runs for victory and they hit the winning runs off the last ball to win by two wickets.
The thirds sit fourth in Junior One and are at home to CIYMS seconds next Saturday.
