With Afghanistan and Nepal both having the day off, it gave the other teams a chance to pick up a win at the ACC Under-19 Premier League today in Kuwait. And Malaysia and the UAE took their chance and recorded their first wins of the tournament.
Malaysia were bowling first after losing the toss against the hosts, and they were able to bowl Kuwait out for just 107, with Anwar Rahman taking 5-25 from his 10 overs. Yousuf top scored for Kuwait with 23.
Malaysia lost two wickets in their reply, but were never really in trouble, chasing down their target in 19.4 overs to win by 8 wickets. Shaunvinder Singh was their top scorer with an unbeaten 28.
The other match of the day between Saudi Arabia and the UAE went much the same way. Saudi Arabia batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 119. Aaron Kattampally was the pick of the UAE bowlers with 4-17, whilst Divyendu Shekhar also chipped in with 3-14 in his two overs.
The UAE had a shaky start to their reply, with both openers out with just seven runs on the board. But the chase was steadied, with wicketkeeper Karthik Shekar leading the way with an unbeaten 56. The UAE completed their six wicket win in 28.2 overs.
Afghanistan and Nepal will be back in action tomorrow, taking on Saudi Arabia and Malaysia respectively.
