The UAE's World Cup preparation tour of Australia continued today in Perth, with a thumping nine wicket defeat by Western Australia.

Batting first after losing the toss at the Murdoch University Ground, the UAE started their innings with a 48 run opening partnership between Amjad Ali and Andri Berenger. Despite that start though, the UAE batting line-up mostly struggled, with the exception of Shaiman Anwar who scored 63 from 62 balls.

Andrew Tye was the pick of the Western Australia bowlers with 4-29 as the visitors were bowled out for 210.

In reply, the Western Australia opening pair of Luke Towers and Marcus Harris almost finished off the match on their own, putting on 207 before Harris was dismissed for 121. Towers finished not out on 82 as the hosts completed a nine wicket win with 12.2 overs to spare.

The UAE now move on to Darwin in the Northern Territory for another four matches, the first of which will be against Papua New Guinea on Wednesday.
