The Netherlands have made it two wins from two games in the European Under-19 Division Two Championship after a thumping win over Italy today at Halstead Cricket Club.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Dutch opening pair of Hamdan Khan and Adriaan Verbeek put on 42 before Khan was run out for 13 in the eighth over. None of the top four made any significant contribution, with the Netherlands on 87 when the fourth wicket fell in the 20th over.

This brought out Roeland Verhagen to join Sikander Zulfiqar, and the pair proceeded to put on 137 for the fifth wicket before Zulfiqar was stumped for 77. Verhagen was out four overs later for 69, and the tail took the Dutch to a total of 284-9 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Italy were never in the hunt. The Dutch used eight bowlers, with six of them taking wickets. Haider Zaman was the only one of the Italian batsmen to reach double figures as they were bowled out for 73, losing by 211 runs.

Tomorrow is a rest day in the tournament, and both sides will be back in action on Thursday. The Netherlands will play Jersey at Colchester Cricket Club, whilst Italy will bring their tournament to a conclusion when they take on Denmark at Coggeshall Cricket Club.
