Result: Carrickfergus beat County Galway by 8 wickets
Carrickfergus eased their way into the National Cup semi-finals with a comfortable 8 wicket victory over visitors County Galway.
Winning the toss and batting Galway openers Shariq Nasim and Danish Ali batted steadily to put on 46 for the first wicket.
Shariq went on to score exactly 50 and as wickets fell regularly it became apparent that a defendable total would not be achieved and it was only a final flurry from number 10 Chaudray that took the visitors total to 175.
In Carrick's reply the early loss of Gilmour for 17 and Browne without scoring did nothing to slow the Carrick charge to victory.
Jamie Holmes raced to 50 in 27 balls thanks mainly to an over of leg-spin from Bisla off which he scored 32 (4x6, 2x4).
Bisla had opened the bowling with 3 overs of seam for 18 runs only to finish with 50 off 4.
Holmes finished 89 not out with 7x6 and 7x4 in an innings to which to visitors had no answer.
Carrick Captain Parkhill batted through the innings to finish on 48 not out and will be happy to see Carrick's name go into the hat for the Semi-final draw.
