It was always going to be a big ask against the Leinster champions but credit to Glendermott who made a real fist of things against The Hills before bowing out of this season's Irish Senior Cup.

Roy Silva isn't renowned for hanging about and the Sri Lankan helped his side make up for a slow start as he thumped 5 fours and 3 sixes in a quick-fire 46 that gave their innings a much needed boost.

Trevor McDermott's 31 down the order also came in handy as Luke Clinton (3-25), Max Sorensen (2-22) and Tomas Murphy (2-44) lead the visitors' attack well.

Glendermott's 163 all out was subsequently reduced to 153 in 42 overs by Duckworth Lewis and the visitors looked a little jumpy early on in reply at 23 for 2.

Cormac McLaughlin (58) and Jonathan Andrews (34) steadied the ship thereafter but the visitors lost 3 more wickets before finally reaching the winning line with a bit to spare.

Two wickets each for Montgomery and Silva kept The Hills up to their work but it is they who will now take their place in Round Two with a home tie against Bready.
