Coleraine made light of their big challenge as Gordon Cooke's men saw off Belfast side CIYMS to eventually ease through to the next round courtesy of an 18-run win.

Professional Kyllin Vardhan top scored for the North West champions as he made 40 but runs proved hard to come by with only Johnny Ring (28), Scott Campbell (21) and David Cooke (19 not out) adding anything of note as they made 138 for 8 in their 26 overs.

That target should have been well within the Belmont side's compass but they were completely unable to cope with the pace of Jarred Barnes and Gareth Burns and the top order simply fell away.

Not only were they losing wickets but the NCU side were miles behind the rate, taking 14 overs to reach 38 for 5.

Former Bready man Trevor Britton showed some fight towards the end with a 30-ball 42 but it was too little too late as the Bannsiders showed the type of form that could well see them get a run in this competition.
