Nigel Jones scored 112 as Civil Service North crushed Phoenix by 166 runs in their re-arranged Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup clash at Stormont.

Irish international Jones struck 14 fours and two sixes in his innings, compiled from just 102 deliveries.

He shared in a second wicket partnership of 193 with Griffin Nieuwoudt who made 80. The former South African Under 19 international was content to play second fiddle to Jones, as his 80 came from 132 balls (6 fours, 1 six).

Andrew Cowden chipped in with a breezy 26 not out to get CSN up to a formidable 277/6 in their 50 over, with Andrews (3-43) and Steenkamp (2-36) the best of the visitors attack.

John Costain (3-34) had the Phoenix reply in tatters as they slumped to 13 for 3, and from there the position was virtually hopeless.

Conor Kelly battled bravely with 46, and Steenkamp made 21, but it was too little as Phoenix managed just 111. Hamilton Coulter (3-15) and Michael Heaney (2-12) were the other principal wicket takers.

Civil Service North will now play Derriaghy in an all NCU clash on Saturday June 9.
