There will be a strong Associate presence for the inaugural season of the Bangladesh Premier League with nine Associate/Affiliate players in the auction list and each team required to pick at least one.

The full list of Associate/Affiliate players is as follows:

  • Irfan Ahmed (Hong Kong)
  • Alexei Kervezee (Netherlands)
  • Freddie Klokker (Denmark)
  • Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan)
  • Niall O'Brien (Ireland)
  • Thomas Odoyo (Kenya)
  • Rizwan Cheema (Canada)
  • Gerrie Snyman (Namibia)

All are in the Grade C bracket with a base price of US$30,000 at the player auction with the exception of Niall O'Brien who is in the Grade B bracket with a base price of US$50,000. The auction will take place on Thursday.

Other players involved in the auction with links to associate cricket are former Dutch international Dirk Nannes, Hamish Marshall, who has been attempting to overcome problems with Gloucestershire as he seeks to play for Ireland, and Gerraint Jones who is hoping to play for his birthplace Papua New Guinea in the World Twenty20 qualifier.

The league itself will be played from 9-29 February with six teams based in Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi and Sylhet. Teams will play each other twice followed by semi-finals and a final.
