Jersey's Jonty Jenner signs for Sussex

Sussex CCC are pleased to announce the signing of Jersey youngster Jonty Jenner, who will join the Club's youth section in preparation for the

2012 season.

14 year-old Jenner is the son of former Jersey captain Ward, and joins Sussex having impressed the County's scouts and junior coaches during the Arabian Cricket Festival in 2011, a festival involving several junior representative sides held at the Sutton Winson Academy Ground at Blackstone.

The wicketkeeper-batsman will receive individual coaching with Sussex's professional coaches in both Jersey and at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove through the next two winters, and he will form part of the Sussex

Under-14 age group squad in 2012 before moving on to the Under-15's in 2013. His Sussex Cricket commitments will fit around matches for the Jersey Cricket Board which include ICC European Tournaments.

Jonty has completed his first training camp at The PROBIZ and Sussex's Cricket Performance Manager and Academy Director Keith Greenfield will travel to Jersey this weekend to coach a second session.

Greenfield said, "We've been impressed by the way he went about playing the game in the summer. He has an excellent attitude towards the game and we look forward to him being a part of the Sussex Family for many years to come.

Chief Executive of Jersey Cricket Chris Minty said, "We are delighted that Jonty, who has been involved with our development programme for some years, has been selected by Sussex CCC to join their youth programme and we look forward to assisting and watching his progress in the future.

"We hope his progress will encourage some of our talented young players to work hard at their game."
