Jersey v Guernsey in Malaysia
The Jersey boys worked very hard in the field to hold Guernsey to 251 on a good batting pitch. Some missed chances early on proved to be costly however.
Morrison and Farley were batting beautifully and making light work of the run chase - Guernsey were down and out - not sure who to bowl etc.
With the score on 131 for 0 in the 26th over Farley drills a drive straight down the ground - Guernsey bowler Bisson attempts to stop it with his foot and it deflects onto the stumps to run Morrison out!
Then we had not only thunder and lightning to bat through but also Duckworth Lewis calculations to contend with as the umpires could have brought the players off at almost any time. 18 year old Corey Bisson (29) batted well as did 'birthday boy' Sam de la Haye (36) as the game ebbed and flowed. Peter Gough (17) looked in good touch until he was lbw sweeping and of course losing wickets affected the Duckworth Lewis position.
This was a match Jersey should have won and had they made themselves a bit more luck would have enjoyed a well deserved victory.
