Botswana, Nigeria and Ghana off to winning starts

The first morning of the ICC Africa Division 2 event taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa went according to form with top seeds Botswana, Nigeria and Ghana all recording their first victories of the tournament.
On the main field of Sahara Park, Botswana took on newly promoted Rwanda, who was dismissed for just 59 all out.
Botswana's bowling attack shared the spoils evenly, with Ali, Gaolakwe, Trivedi and Ramatu all picking up two wickets. Vardhineni was the only Rwandan batsmen to show any degree of resistance and top scored 20 runs off 21 balls.
In reply, Botswana managed to pass the moderate target in the 11th over. This was due mainly to Rashid scoring 18 runs as it secured a comfortable seven-wicket win.
Nigeria played Malawi on the Sahara Park Willowmore 'A' Field. Nigeria restricted Malawi to 88-6 in 20 overs, with A Kalaria (20) and S Junejo (16) the top scorers.
A half century from Onikoyi, made from just 30 balls, helped Nigeria secure a nine-wicket win in the 11th over.
Ghana hit the highest score of the morning, despite three wickets for Vadavathy, as it made 133-7 off 20 overs, with Ananya top scoring with 32 off 19 balls. In reply, Mozambique could only reach 80-9 off 20 overs to hand Ghana a 53-run win.
