If Canada were in confident mood after their win over the Netherlands in their first warm-up match on Sunday, that confidence will have been shattered after a dire batting display against Afghanistan.

Hamid Hassan was the early wicket-taker in the Canadian innings, removing openers John Davison and Nitish Kumar for 1 and 0 respectively, and skipper Ashish Bagai for a duck soon afterwards. Mirwais Ashraf then took over, taking 4-39 as Canada were bowled out for just 105 in 30.3 overs.

Only four Canadian batsmen reached double figures, and the top score came from number 9 Khurram Chohan, who made 24. A much improved batting display will be needed when they play Bangladesh in their next warm-up game on Saturday.

Afghanistan lost five wickets in reply, but still reached their target in 23.3 overs, Asghar Stanikzai top scoring with 27.
