In a warm-up match for both sides European Championship campaigns - Division One for Jersey, Division Two for France - at Grainville, France ran Jersey pretty close, giving them a boost as they seek to qualify for Division Eight of the World Cricket League.e

France won the toss and chose to bat first. They lost wickets regularly at first, but Williamdeep Singh provided the backbone to their innings, scoring 74 from 84 balls before he was caught and bowled by Thomas Minty.

Three Jersey bowlers - Ryan Driver, Alex Cooke and Charles Perchard - took two wickets as France made 209-9 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Jersey's innings progressed in much the same way as that of France. They lost wickets at regular intervals to start with, with Edward Farley staying in, scoring 64 before he was out stumped. They were on 150-6 after 39 overs, and Ben Stevens and Thomas Minty guided them home with an unbroken 60 run partnership to secure a four wicket win.

France shared the bowling around, with 8 bowlers being used. Shahid Malik was the pick of them with 2-46.

France will play Germany in their opening match in Division Two on Tuesday, whilst Jersey will play Denmark in their opening Division One match.
