In today's match, Logar captain Maroof Shah won the toss and elected to field first and it proved to be a good decision by him. Former national team player Gulbadin Nayeb, who played with the national team at WCL5 in Jersey, bowled the second over and ruined the batting order of Jowzjan province. He took two wickets in his first over and two more in his second over, leaving Jowzjan on the back foot.
Logar is considered strong due to having Gulbaddin Nayeb as an attacking bowler and U19 national team batsman Hashmtullah Shahidi in addition to Najib Zadran who played with the national team. It met expectations and bowled out Jowzjan for 95 runs in 25 overs.
A target of 96 did not seem difficult for a strong Logar side, who had a good start. Logar went well in chasing; they were 23 after 3 overs, 68 in the 8th over, 86 in the 9th over, and 97 in 10.4 overs.
Logar won by 10 wickets, achieving the high net run rate they will need to proceed to the quarter-final. Gulbaddin Nayeb earned the man of the match title.
Tomorrow Kabul will play Konar. Both are strong teams and the match will be no doubt be exciting. Both teams have some quality players with considerable experience. Kabul includes U19 captain Noor-ul-haq, pace bowler Aftab Alam and another good player by the name of Khanje. Aftan Alam and Noor-ul-haq played in the U19 world cup and Aftab was later selected for the national team at the T20 Qualifiers in the UAE.
Konar includes pace bowler Obaidullha Konari (who was a member of national team but was dropped due injuries) and Pacha Hussain who also played with the national team. Former national team player Hasti Gul Abid also may join Konar team.
