Paktika (in a dark green Pakistan like uniform) took on Badakhshan (in an orange Netherlands like uniform) today in the second match of Group B in Etisalat 50-overs domestic trophy. Paktika (a province to the west of capital Kabul) has made the highest score of the tournament so far, making 319 runs in 50 overs for 9 wickets.
As usual the match started with national anthem of Afghanistan. Paktika's captain Asadullah won the toss and elected to bat first. Paktika included two famous players, former national team player Ahmadshah Ahmadi and Under-19 wicket-keeper Murad Ali.
Paktika had a strong start to their innings, making 44 for no loss in 5 overs. Some of the runs came from the wide balls of the Badakhshan pace bowlers. Paktika lost its first wicket in the 10th over for 74. Its third wicket was Ahmad Shah Ahmadi who made brilliant 69 from 61 balls.
Skipper Asadullha scored 49 from 43 balls. Today's match was full of fours and sixes and the energetic spectators of Pakitka (a stronghold of cricket) enjoyed each of them.
Badakhshan had a weak start to their reply by losing 4 wickets in the first 9 overs for 47 runs. They were all out for 137 runs in 32 overs. Paktika won by 182 runs, making a good run rate that they will need in deciding the team that will proceed to the quarter final with no additional match to play. Its current rate is higher that Laghman that won the first match of group B yesterday.
Tomorrow Nangarhar (from the East) will play Heart (from the West). Shamshad TV will broadcast the match live.
Each group comprises of 6 teams playing three matches. One of the three winners proceeds to the quarter final on high run rate basis, the other two will play a match to decide the second team in the quarter final. The winner of the quarter final of Group B will join Panjshir that has made its way to Semi Finals from Group A.
