Jersey Evening Post logoThere's a new addition to Walkovers Cricket Club this season in the form of a ladies' team.

Nomads Ladies have joined them and will be known as Walkovers Ladies, benefiting from the experience, support and structure of an established cricket club.

Bradley Vautier, Walkovers' captain, said: 'We are still quite a new club as we've been going for less than ten years, but we've played ladies' teams in previous seasons and have been thinking about starting a ladies' team for a while.

'With Nomads not being associated to a club, it seemed a perfect opportunity, plus we've worked through the challenges of starting out so we can help them and it should be a good partnership.

'Walkovers have secured sponsorship from Infrasoft so things are looking good for us this season and it's nice that all our hard work is paying off. Everyone is very excited that the club is expanding again.'

Weekly training sessions will be held on Mondays throughout the summer, from 6 to 8 pm at Grainville, and the Ladies have a busy summer schedule with games against Lilies Ladies CC, a tri-series featuring a school team and several tournaments in the pipeline.

Walkovers Ladies' Natalie Arkle said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for us as a team to become part of such a well-established club. We are very excited to be joining them and are looking forward to a fantastic summer ahead as Walkovers Ladies.'
