The inaugural ACC Under-16 Elite Cup has finished with a win for Singapore in the final against hosts Nepal.
In front of a Tribhuvan University crowd that eventually grew to 4000, and in front of the Nepali TV cameras, Singapore won the toss and chose to bat first. Singapore found runs hard to come by, but their batsmen stayed in, enabling them to reach 146-6 from their 40 overs. Vikas Rajagopal top scored with 58.
In reply, Nepal showed little of the fine form that got them to the final. Only two batsmen reached double figures, whilst their top score came from the 21 extras given away by Singapore. Navin Param was the pick of the bowlers with 4-28 as Nepal were bowled out for just 78, losing by 68 runs.
Nepal had the small consolation of Nischal Pandey winning the player of the tournament and bowler of the tournament awards, whilst Singapore's Vikas Rajagopal was given the batsman of the tournament award.
