The Namibia Desert Vipers have lost their third match in the Stanbic Bank Twenty20 Cup, leaving them with a record of one win and two defeats.
Yesterday's defeat was against a strong Mountaineers side captained by Hamilton Masakadza, who won the toss and chose to bat first.
And it was he who was the top scorer in the Mountaineers innings, scoring 52 from 40 balls and sharing in an 81 run run opening partnership with Bernard Mlambo. Namibia bowled well in the second half of the innings, with Tony Palladino and Craig Williams taking three wickets each in the Mountaineers total of 172-8.
In reply, Namibia scored steadily, but the Zimbabwean bowlers kept them in check, Timycen Maruma taking 3-24. Only Raymond van Schoor and Craig Williams passed 30 as Namibia scored 150-9 from their 20 overs to lose by 22 runs.
Namibia will play the Tuskers today.
