Rotterdam Dockers held their nerve to edge Glasgow Cosmic by five wickets in a tense European T20 Premier League contest, reaching their target with just one ball to spare.

Glasgow were restricted to 140 for nine from their 20 overs despite a battling half-century from Liam Livingstone.

The England international struck 54 from 39 balls, including four sixes, after Glasgow had slipped from 35 without loss to 43 for four.

Jason Roy made 22 and Liam Naylor 26, but the Dockers kept chipping away throughout the innings.

Anrich Nortje was outstanding, claiming three for 20 from his four overs, while David Wiese also took three wickets. Roelof van der Merwe added two as Glasgow struggled to find any sustained momentum.

Rotterdam’s pursuit was equally hard-fought.

Captain Faf du Plessis fell for four, but Michael Levitt provided the backbone of the chase with 37 from 41 balls.

Vikramjit Singh added 24 before Paul van Meekeren’s former international team-mates found themselves under pressure as Glasgow continued to take wickets.

Heinrich Klaasen made 11 before Ben McDermott assumed responsibility for guiding the Dockers home.

McDermott struck three fours and a six in an unbeaten 37 from 24 balls, while Ben Manenti’s quick 16 from 10 deliveries proved crucial late on.

Van Meekeren kept Glasgow in the contest with an excellent three for 21, while Lungi Ngidi and Livingstone claimed one apiece.

With nine required from the final nine balls, Rotterdam held their nerve, with David Wiese's boundary off the fourth ball crucial, followed by a scrambled two to get their second win to move third in the table.
