Bangor Under-11s staged a remarkable fightback to lift the Quoile Cup, defeating Instonians by just three runs after their opponents collapsed from 60 for two to 74 all out.

Bangor had earlier struggled to 77 after losing two wickets without scoring. Jacob Patterson rescued the innings with an unbeaten 34 from 31 balls, including four boundaries, while captain Leo English made 12.

Josh Lowe was outstanding for Instonians, taking four for 13, with Aarush Velumani claiming two for 14.

Instonians appeared firmly in control of the final after openers Josh Lowe and Conrad Murphy both scored 21. Their partnership helped the chase reach 49 for two, before Verma’s eight carried them to 60 for two in the tenth over.

What followed was a dramatic collapse as Bangor’s bowlers transformed the contest.

Callum Kirkpatrick produced a superb spell of four for 12, removing Verma before dismissing Velumani and Bodhi Lowe in successive deliveries. James Alexander then applied the finishing touch, taking three for five from 2.4 overs.

Instonians lost eight wickets for only 14 runs, with five batters dismissed for two or fewer. Alexander bowled Prabhu for nought to seal an extraordinary three-run victory and spark wild Bangor celebrations among the players and supporters.

Definitely a night to remember for Bangor who now have one of the most active and vibrant youth sections not just in the NCU, but Ireland. Exciting times indeed for all concerned on and off the field at Upritchard Park.
