Merrion produced another impressive run chase as they swept aside Phoenix by seven wickets, reaching a target of 236 with more than 12 overs to spare to stay third.

Phoenix were dismissed for 235 in 49.3 after Raghav Grover provided the backbone of their innings with a well-compiled 63 from 72 deliveries. His knock contained six fours and a six, but the visitors struggled to build sustained momentum around him.

Johit Munjal and Shane Getkate both fell early to Mikey O’Reilly, before Aadil Naizam and Callum O’Byrne attempted to steady the innings. Both made useful starts, scoring 24 and 17 respectively, while Amish Sidhu added a brisk 24.

Grover shared the most substantial partnership with Ben White, who made a patient 19. However, Phoenix lost wickets regularly in the closing stages and needed unbeaten contributions from Sean McNicholl and Tanvir Hasan, who both scored 12, to push the total beyond 230.

O’Reilly claimed three for 46, while Sebastian Dijkstra returned an excellent three for 22 from seven overs. Andrew Doheny also took two wickets.

Merrion’s response was positive from the outset as Swapnil Modgill struck eight fours in a rapid better than even time 35.

After his dismissal, Stephen Doheny and Raj Undre took complete control with a commanding 130-run partnership for the second wicket.

Irish international Doheny struck seven fours and two sixes in his 63 from 81 balls, but Undre was the outstanding performer. He finished unbeaten on 105 from only 90 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and two sixes in a superbly controlled innings.

Dijkstra added 13 before falling with 11 runs required, but John Anderson joined Undre to complete the one-sided victory.

Merrion reached their target in just 37.3 overs, underlining the depth and confidence in their batting line-up with another emphatic chase.
