Strabane moved into fourth place in the North West Premiership after securing their fifth victory of the campaign with a five-wicket win over relegation-threatened Coleraine at Strabane Park.

The result leaves Coleraine in deep trouble in the relegation play-off position after another disappointing batting display saw them dismissed for only 91 in a reduced 35-over contest.

The visitors lost Scott Campbell and Garnett Tarr with only three runs on the board before Varun Chopra and David Cooke attempted to repair the damage. Chopra made 17, but his dismissal sparked a dramatic collapse as Coleraine slumped from 47 for two to 56 for eight.

Muhammad Mohsin was the chief destroyer, returning excellent figures of three for 12 from seven overs, while Ryan Gallagher claimed three for 21. Andrew Mullen added two wickets as Coleraine’s middle order offered little resistance.

Veteran Cooke battled hard for 43 from 63 balls, striking six boundaries, and shared a ninth-wicket stand of 35 with Stephen Hutchinson, who made 12. However, both fell with the total on 91.

Strabane’s chase was not entirely straightforward as Campbell produced an outstanding spell of four for 10. Conor Graham fell without scoring and Aaron Gillespie made only two, leaving the hosts 16 for two.

Mohsin then completed a fine all-round performance, striking seven fours in a decisive 42 from 37 deliveries. He added 42 with Rhys Logue, who made 19, to put Strabane in control.

Ryan Gallagher finished unbeaten on 15 as Strabane reached their modest target in the 24th over, strengthening their position in the top half while increasing Coleraine’s relegation concerns.
