Balbriggan rout Railway Union after devastating bowling display

Balbriggan completed a crushing nine-wicket victory over Railway Union after Ruan Strauss and Seb De Oliveira shared eight wickets in a dominant bowling performance.

Railway were dismissed for just 75 after losing wickets at regular intervals from the outset.

Peter le Roux, Abhay Tipnis and Liam McCarthy were all removed without scoring, while normally high-scoring Rob O’Brien managed only one as Railway slumped to 20 for six.

Hayden Hamilton offered the only meaningful resistance with 25 from 22 balls, including three fours and a six. Shobit Shetty added 15 late in the innings, but there was no recovery.

Strauss returned outstanding figures of four for 27 from 10 overs, including four maidens, while De Oliveira claimed four for 29. Andrew Darroch took the final wicket.

Balbriggan made light work of the modest target.

Connor Fletcher launched the chase with 25 from only 12 deliveries, striking three fours and two sixes before falling to Sumit Kumar.

Ghanim Dara remained unbeaten on 17, while Cameron Rowe smashed 33 not out from 19 balls, including five fours and a six.

Balbriggan reached their target before the end of the powerplay to complete an emphatic victory with more than 40 overs remaining.
