Cooke Collegians survived a late comeback from Instonians II's to lift the Junior Cup at Larne.
The pre-match talk had been about the father-son battle between Luke Willmott and his son Max and both did well in the first innings as CC opted to bat first after winning the toss.
Dad Luke top-scored with 51 (5 fours) sharing stands of 79 for the second wicket with Haider Haider - so good they named him twice - and 49 for the third with excellent all-rounder Vinoth Srinivasan (24).
At 135 for 2 in the 27th over, they would have harboured thoughts of a total in excess of 200, but they were pegged back, losing eight wickets for 48 runs to be 183 all out.
Max Willmott (3-15), George Craigan (2-17) and Jamie Jones (2-36) were among the wickets for Instonians.
It looked as if the chase would be a forlorn one as Instonians slumped to 96 for 7 - two wickets apiece at that stage for skipper Chander Shekhar, Vinoth Srinivasan, and Ashish Pandita.
Former Irish international James Shannon though showed his quality though to hit the Shaw's Bridge side back into serious contention.
He hit four sixes and three fours in a 39-ball 54, adding 69 for the eighth wicket with Max Willmott (14) and at 165 for 7, 19 were needed from the last five overs and for the first time, Instonians had edged ahead in the game.
Captain Chander Shekhar took the responsibility of breaking the stand himself and trapped Willmott lbw.
Abin John then had Shannon also lbw in the next over, and won the cup for Cooke Collegians from the next ball as he had number 11 Hridaan Salian caught to seal a 14-run win in a match that ebbed and flowed throughout.
Luke Willmott got the Man-of-the-Match accolade - I wonder will it have pride of place at the dinner table as the family sit down for lunch today?
