Clontarf's bustling opening bowler Mick Granger has been named in the Munster Reds squad to face the Warriors at The Mardyke on Monday (10:45am).

He came to Dublin as an overseas player having played youth representative cricket with Queensland, and is now married with a young family and living here.

In 67 matches for the Castle Avenue side he has taken 108 wickets at just over 17, with a season best 43 back in 2015.

It's perhaps no surprise then that new Munster Head Coach Jeremy Bray was so keen to have him in the ranks.

"He is without doubt one of the best bowlers in Leinster cricket, and him and David Delany formed a really formidable new ball partnership.

"I'm really surprised that Leinster haven't used him previously. I have no doubt he will be a great addition and asset to the Munster Reds squad.

"He has played at a very high level back in Australia with state squads, so it's a great boost and we are excited about him hooking up with the Reds."

Granger could be given the new ball as the defending champions start their campaign on Monday morning against the Warriors.

PJ Moor skippers the side with fellow Test international Tyrone Kane his deputy.

Murray Commins and Ben White are the other Irish internationals in the squad.
