Zimbabwean Mary-Anne Musonda led Scorchers to a five-wicket win in the opening match of the Super Series at Malahide.

Her unbeaten 36 proved the difference in a low scoring encounter, where runs were at a premium in tough conditions.

Chasing just 83, Scorchers lost Gaby Lewis and Anna Squires cheaply in the reply - both falling to Alana Dalzell (2-9).

Cara Murray accounted for Sophie MacMahon and Lara Maritz, while Sarah McEvoy dismissed Christina Coulter-Reilly to give the Dragons hope.

However, Musonda guided them home to seal the win in the penultimate over.

Earlier, Dragons captain Leah Paul top-scored with 27, hitting two of only three boundaries in the innings.

The left-hander shared a stand of 42 with Alana Dalzell (16) who was the only other player to reach double figures.

Hannah Little (2-6) and Ellie McGee (2-9) each took two wickets, while the fielders were at the top of their game, making four run-outs to keep Dragons to 82 for 9.
