It was a historic 2022 season for Fox Lodge who won the NW Senior Cup for the first time in their history. Can they capture more silverware this campaign?

Aaron Heywood was captain last season for that historic win and not surprisingly he is back in charge for 2023.

The Ballymagorry side have a new professional in Sri Lankan Gayan Manesshan and he will have a lot to live up to replacing Marco Marais and his countryman Geeth Kumara who did so well in that cup run. He has previous Northern Ireland experience with North Down so should be able to acclimatise quickly.

There are no departures and one incoming, with Aidan Lodge making the short trek back after a season at Burndennett.

While skipper Heywood feels that the youngsters at the club are still not ready for the senior step up, he is hopeful that a talented crop of second XI players take the opportunity when it arises, much in the same vein as last year when they performed exceptionally well when called upon.

"I'd like to see them stick their hand up and do well and give me a few selection headaches if they get their chance," said Heywood.

"We will be looking to build on the success from last year. We would hope to become more consistent with our performances.

"The club has shown on our day we can compete with and be a match for anyone, just all that's lacking is a bit of consistency.

"We have had issues in the past with team selection and availaibilty, and if we can get that sorted then consistency will come."

Fox Lodge start the season on Saturday April 29 with an away trip to St Johnston.
