CIYMS clinched a place in the Championship next week after their super Saturday continued with the demolition of Swedish side Ariana KIF in the group final by 77 runs.

The prolific Jason van der Merwe went for 15 - taking his Saturday tally to 199 - and when Chris Dougherty and Jacob Mulder also departed quickly, it looked decidely bleak.

However, Carson McCullough was the Belfast side's hero, hitting 4 fours and clearing the ropes four times in a top score of 51 from 21 balls to take them to 102 for 5 - considered par.

Player of the Match in the final: Carson McCullough

McCullough (3-3) then set the tone for a wonderful bowling exhibition as he took wickets with the first two balls of the reply - and looked to have made it a hat-trick, only for Mark Best to signal that his low catch at point hadn't quite carried.

A further wicket in his next over plus a run out saw their opponents reeling at 15 for 4 - five of those penalty runs from the ball hitting the helmet!

Jacob Mulder (3-2) claimed two wickets in his first over and at 17 for 6, it was only a matter of the margin of victory.

Chris Robinson (3-4) then got in on the act to take a hat-trick on a night when everything went right for the Belmont club, with Mulder applying the coup de grace as Ariana were skittled for just 25.

CIYMS will remain in Spain for Championship week - one of seven teams competing for the right to be crowned European Champions.
