Jason van Der Merwe hit form on Finals Day powering CIYMS to wins over Oerias and Istanbul to carry his side to the Group Final.

In the first match of Finals Day CIYMS overcame Portuguese champions Oeiras, winning the 3rd versus 4th Eliminator by 31 runs.

Once again it was Jason vd Merwe with the runs as he blasted his way to 89 not out off only 32 balls (8x6, 6x4), aided it must be said by some poor fielding, that saw him dropped twice and surviving a stumping chance as well.

CIYMS’s 130 total was immediately under threat when Carson McCullough’s first over went for 15 and Adam Kennedy’s second for 21! But an earlier than usual appearance from Jacob Mulder and Mark Best slowed things somewhat.

CIYMS were without their leading strike bowler Allen Coulter who suffered an injury in the 'warm-up', but Chris Robinson stepped up to end Portuguese hopes, as he took 4 for 15, before McCullough and Kennedy claimed a couple each to salvage their figures, ending with 2-22 and 2-28 respectively.

And it was van der Merwe again in the Qualifier as he bettered his morning effort, reaching 95 not out in an unbroken first wicket partnership with Chris Dougherty worth 169.

Van der Mwewe'e runs came off just 30 balls while Dougherty finished 62 not out, off an identical 30 deliveries.

No problems in defending that total for the Irish champions with Adam Kennedy (2-8) and Chris Robinson (2-14) sealing the 89 run win that sees CIYMS take on unbeaten Swedish representatives Ariana in the Final.
