CIYMS have signed New Zealander Edward Nuttall after original choice Keith Dudgeon was ruled out of a return to Belmont.

Dudgeon was a pivotal part of th CIYMS squad that captured four trophies in 2022, including an All-Ireland double.

"Sadly Keith Dudgeon won’t be returning to Belmont for the summer of 2023," the club announced on their Twitter feed.

"Some ongoing fitness issues mean he’s been advised to rest in his off season, something we understand and support.

"Keith was a consummate professional, everything a club could ask for. 43 wickets and a century along with a bunch a trophies. A phenomenal coach as well. Having Keith and wife Michelle at the club was a joy. Thanks guys, we’ll miss you."

Stepping into Dudgeon' rather big shoes is left-arm quick Edward Nuttall.

The 29 year-old is a former Under 19 international and was on the cusp of the Kiwis A side before suffering stress fractures of the back.

Nuttall has taken 121 first-class wickets as well as 67 at List-A. While his batting may not be his strongest suit, he has thee ability to score useful lower order runs.

He won't be short of company as fellow Canterbury player Theo van Woerkom joined last week.
