There will be a huge sigh of relief amongst the NCU bowling fraternity with the recent news that Jacques Snyman is leaving Carrickfergus for pastures new.

The South African is switching to Greenmount in the Lancashire League for the 2023 season after a successful sojourn at Middle Road.

Snyman played 79 matches for Carrick scoring 3993 runs at 57.87, hitting ten centuries as well as 31 fifties in an incredibly consistent display.

In addition he claimed 67 wickets and will be a hard act to follow.

Snyman helped Carrick to the 2021 T20 Cup, with a Man-of-the-Match display in their win against Civil Service North.

No doubt the Carrick hierarchy are already planning for a quality replacement, and it will be a case of watch this space as the winter draws in.
