Armagh chased a club record target of 263 to beat Muckamore in a thrilling NCU Section One contest at The Mall.

The chase was set up by a third wicket stand of 152 in 27 overs between JJ Strydom and Arnie Wright which broke the back of the target.

Strydom just missed out on a deserved hundred, hitting 12 fours and 4 sixes in his 97, while Wright's even time 64 was full of positive shots.

Neil Gill and Richard Keates took three wickets apiece to chip away at the Armagh batting, and when last man Gareth McCarter joined Harry Doyle, six were still needed from seven balls.

Doyle (30*) and McCarter (3*) got the runs needed to spark celebrations amongst the Armagh faithful that continued long and hard into the wee small hours.

Earlier, Muckamore's 263 for 8 owed much to an unbroken 9th wicket stand of 74 between Donald Dinake - who hit 4 sixes in his unbeaten 45 - and Richard Keates (40*).

There were runs too for Kyllin Vardhan (46), skipper Sam Gordon (36), keeper Jamie Magowan (35), and Neil Gill (22).

Michael Hoey claimed three wickets, while there were two apiece for Alan Whitcroft and Stephen Freshwater on a day that will live long in the memory for the Armagh faithful.
