Instonians will be without Cian Robertson for the immediate future after he dislocated his shoulder when playing for Northern Knights in Monday’s inter-provincial friendly against North West Warriors.

Robertson, the slow left armer, had bowled only two overs when he fell on his right shoulder when fielding the ball on the boundary and he knew immediately it was dislocated.

Knights are back in action today, with Paul Stirling playing his first game, against a full-strength Leinster Lightning, including skipper George Dockrell and Josh Little, who missed Sunday’s 105 runs victory over Munster Reds..

Harry Tector top scored in Lightning’s 177 with 51 and Simi Singh, opening the batting, made 45. Ireland Wolves slow bowler Mike Frost took four wickets.

In reply, Barry McCarthy took two for five in six overs as Munster lost their first three wickets for four runs and six for 24.

Young Bready opener Gavin Roulston and new team-mate Scott Macbeth both made 40s for the Warriors before they were bowled out for 184 and skipper Andy McBrine then took five wickets in just four overs as the Knights crashed from 41 without loss to 56 for five, although two of the batsmen were bemused by their dismissals, including Luke Georgeson, given out lbw for 19. The Knights were all out for 162.
