The Super Series (Women’s inter-provincials) returns to a three-team format this year and for the first time there will be a largely Northern Ireland squad.

International Leah Paul, who lifted the trophy as winning captain of the Scorchers last year, will captain the Dragons but 11 of her 14 team-mates will be from the northern province, including Ireland colleagues Cara Murray and Amy Hunter who now play most of their club cricket in Leinster.

But Waringstown captain Charlotte Lyons and team-mate Abbi Harrison are included along with Alison Cowan of Civil Service North and Amy Caulfield of Muckamore, while North West teams provide the other five northern members of the squad.

There are two from Bready, Alana Dalzell and Jemma Rankin plus Zara Craig from Eglinton, Mollie Devine from Fox Lodge and Coleraine’s Kia McCartney.

Caulfield, Devine, Harrison, Lyons and McCartney have yet to make their Super Series debut.

The Dragons will also have an NCU-based head coach with CIYMS’ Ireland international James Cameron-Dow accepting the role.
Each of the three teams will play the others three times in both 50-over and T20 matches and three of the 50-over games and two of the T20 matches will be played in the NCU.

Lisburn will host the Dragons game against the Scorchers, captained by Gaby Lewis, on Sunday May 29, while Waringstown will stage a double-header of T20 games on June 26 with the morning game against the Dragons, who will be led by Ireland captain Laura Delany.
