Carrickfergus have confirmed that all-rounder Craig Averill will be joining them for the 2022 season.

The former Irish youth international is a top-order batsman and useful leg-spinner, who has been a consistent performer at Premiership level for well over a decade.

He is well travelled, having played for not only his boyhood club Eglinton (twice), but also Coleraine, Ballyspallen and Glendermott.

"We are delighted that Craig has decided to join our club," said a Carrickfergus spokesperson.

"He has undoubted quality and will add depth to our squad as we look to push on from last season, when we won the T20 competition.

"Craig will be very welcome at Middle Road as we look forward to the start of the season in April."

Averill has also played for the North West Warriors, making seven appearances in 2017.
