Gary Wilson could be named interim Head Coach of Cricket Ireland, replacing Graham Ford who stepped down earlier this week.

The 35 year-old is the current North West Warriors coach, leading them to the T20 Interprovincial Trophy in his first year at the helm.

Ed Joyce was seen as the front-runner for the position but is believed to prefer to concentrate on his role with Ireland Women who are currently in Zimbabwe for the World Cup qualifiers.

Wilson and close friend William Porterfield were drafted in to the Ireland coaching staff for the recent T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Ireland leave for a tour of the USA in four weeks, flying on to the West Indies for their three World Cup Super League games.
